Slow Travel: See the World in a New Light

By Eleonora Alvez Chiappe

Have you ever stopped to reflect on how much you enjoyed that vacation where you dashed through landmarks and activities at breakneck speed? How much of that trip do you really remember? How rested did you feel after you returned home? Travel has become a contest to see who can visit the most countries and fit the most destinations into an Instagram carousel. In a world of constant stimulus and dopamine rushes, slow travel feels, to put it simply, just refreshing.

What Is Slow Travel?

Slow travel is all about letting yourself explore a destination without any rush. Take a stroll on the beach, stay a little longer at the table after you’ve finished your meal, revisit the café where you first tried that delicious latte or get lost walking through back streets.

This type of travel is about prioritizing quality over quantity. It’s about experiencing, not racing. Because, as you take a moment to stop and linger, urgency starts fading away and your perspective of the world shifts. And, when you make the conscious decision to focus on the little things and travel with intention, you create memories to last a lifetime, and you’ll find yourself returning home with a newfound sense of fulfilment.

Find Slow Travel Inspiration With Kensington

Every one of Kensington’s journeys is tailor-made. No two travelers are alike, and neither are their itineraries. Slow travel is all about personal experience. Together with our partners at Kensington, we can curate a trip for you to unwind, recharge and explore like never before.

  • Cultural Treasures of South Korea — Ignite your sense of wonder through deeply meaningful cultural experiences. Spend a quiet morning at Busan’s seaside temple or dine by moonlight in historic Gyeongju.
  • Wellness Sanctuaries of Costa Rica — Unwind at a hidden retreat in the heart of the rainforest and discover a land shaped by volcanoes and the sea. Swim beneath waterfalls and explore the treetops in Arenal.
  • Spiritual Bali: Wellness & Culture — Slow down, unplug and reconnect. Meditate in ancient cave temples like Goa Garba and take part in Balinese water rituals guided by local insight.
  • Exclusive Nordic Escape: Iceland & Copenhagen — Escape the mundane to explore ethereal landscapes with private guides. Dip into therapeutic hot springs warmed by ancient volcanoes and recharge in remote Olafsfjordur.

Slow travel is not about doing less for the sake of it, it’s about finding joy in the small moments and experiencing the journey in and of itself.

Why Regent

Why Regent's New Solara Sports Deck is a Big Deal for Luxury Cruisers

Regent has taken a different approach with Seven Seas Prestige. Perched atop Deck 14, the Solara Sports Deck will be a vibrant open-air haven, designed with the same attention to aesthetics and comfort as the ship's lounges, suites and specialty restaurants. The new venue will not feel out of place on the ultra-luxury Seven Seas Prestige. What Regent appears to have done exceptionally well is to integrate these activities without compromising the elegant atmosphere guests expect. Regent’s plans include beautiful timbers around the courts, inviting shaded lounge areas, with touches such as soft fabric seating, fresh landscaping throughout, and unobstructed ocean views. The area will function as much as a scenic observation and relaxation space as it will be an activity venue. Even if you ne
