Oceania World Cruise: Reflecting on the First Two Months

By Kirsten Ulmer and Alex Tokar

Reflections on the first two months of our World Cruise on the Oceania Vista, January 6-July 6, 2026 by Alex Tokar and Kirsten Ulmer

‘Many scenic splendors, are held in our mind, once we have experienced them’ (Kirsten)

The scenery and temperatures varied from our first embarkation in Miami, Florida (East Coast of USA) to Lima, Peru, (East Coast SA) as we circumnavigated the South American continent. To encapsulate all the experiences or even to decide which ones we ‘liked the best’ as so many friends ask us, is really an impossible question to answer. Each location is uniquely picturesque and has an individual ‘feel’ that we appreciate and enjoy.

We have been pleased with our accommodations, adding only this little advice for future World Cruisers, that they bring along some magnetic hooks for extra storage, since these magnets attach to the ceiling and can hold extra coat hangers.

The Oceania Vista is a beautiful ship, the staff service-focused, in a style that represents the cruise line and their promises to guests. All our cruising needs were met with positivity. Superlatives describe all venues, the positive impressions of the artwork that is displayed around the Oceania Vista, the Vista Production Company, and Speaker Series choices. Of special note is the opportunity to listen to presentation on a tv channel later in the cruise, just in case there was a conflict of time.

We continue to enjoy our Cruise Specialists guests’ social times, not only the very much appreciated Cocktail Hours, also the Cruise Specialists Tour in Montevideo, Uruguay. Other opportunities to socialize, and of which we all take advantage, are in Horizons and Martini’s. Cruise Specialists guests were offered dining experiences with Voyage Hosts Alex and Kirsten on several occasions to share their memories, adventures or personal anecdotes.

Given the luxury to cruise, to explore the world in such comfort, gives us a renewed appreciation for the environment and fills us with a sense of awe.

This could be true for the reader of this blog as well.
