3 Unexpected Cruise Guests Perfect for Ovation of the Seas

By Lisa Vongphachanh

When you think of a Royal Caribbean cruise aboard the Ovation of the Seas, you might picture families with kids or groups of friends soaking up the sun. But this innovative Quantum Class ship offers far more than meets the eye. Whether you're traveling as a couple, traveling with a mobility device, or cruising solo, Ovation of the Seas delivers an unforgettable experience designed for you.

Our own Cruise Specialists marketing team member Lisa Vongphachanh recently cruised aboard Ovation of the Seas and dutifully took part in all the entertainment, dining options and fun to report back to our guests. During the 3-day roundtrip Los Angeles cruise that visited Ensenada, she was surprised to learn of three types of guests who are a perfect match for this ship – and I am betting it will surprise you too!

Couples Chasing Romance and Adventure

Ovation of the Seas is packed with romance, thrill, and memory-making moments that couples of all ages will love.

Why couples love it:

Unmatched views from the North Star capsule, offering a romantic 300-foot-high perspective over the ocean. Pro Tip: While the ship is in port, carve out time for this 15-minute activity for incredible views of your destination before you leave the ship.

Candlelit dinners in world-class specialty restaurants like Coastal Kitchen, Wonderland, and Jamie’s Italian. The most romantic dinner on the ship is by far Jamie’s Italian offering a secluded section of the restaurant with floor-to-ceiling ocean views and twinkling lights overhead.

Heart-pounding adventures like simulated skydiving at RipCord by iFLY, racing each other on roller skates in the SeaPlex, or surfing at the FlowRider. Recreate a fun date or try something new together – either way it will be a blast, and no skill is required to have fun!

Peaceful retreat in the Solarium—an adults-only oasis with cascading pools and panoramic windows. Whether surrounded by the massive glaciers in Alaska or swaying Palm trees in Mexico, the unobstructed views and perfect temperature in the Solarium provide the perfect setting for relaxing in the hot tubs and pools while sipping on your favorite beverages.

Travelers with Limited Mobility Who Want Full Access to Fun

Cruising has evolved and Ovation of the Seas leads the way with thoughtful, inclusive design that ensures everyone can experience the joy of travel.

Why travelers with limited mobility love it:

  • Accessible staterooms with automatic doors that are at least 32” wide, roll-in showers, lowering closet rods, lower vanity and sinks, balcony ramps, and plenty of maneuvering space throughout.
  • Barrier-free exploration across decks, entertainment venues, and dining areas, with elevators, ramps, and spacious layouts.
  • Inclusive shore excursion options that offer comfortable, accessible selections for discovering new destinations.
  • Supportive crew trained to assist without overstepping, giving guests confidence and independence.

Every traveler deserves to explore in comfort and style and Ovation of the Seas makes that possible without compromise.

Solo Adventurers Looking for a Stress-Free Getaway

Cruising solo doesn’t have to mean going it alone or paying double. Ovation of the Seas offers the perfect balance between independence and connection, making it a dream trip for solo travelers.

Why solo travelers love it:

  • Studio staterooms designed for one—no single supplement! Choose an inside or balcony. Either way it is such a smart design, all luggage can be stored under the bed with plenty of room for all your belongings in the closet, cabinets and drawers. Lisa was impressed with the storage space in the solo rooms, “Standing in a room that is just 119 sq feet I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious it felt. The balcony also offered plenty of room to stretch out with two lounge chairs and a table – a perfect spot to enjoy the included continental breakfast room service.”
  • Daily social events and meetups to mix, mingle, and connect with fellow cruisers. Select from endless onboard activities like mixology classes, comedy shows, game nights, and group fitness. Lisa met a heap of new friends during 80s Song Trivia. “The atmosphere is friendly and inviting with the crew encouraging participants to join in and shared tables and spaces make for easy connections.”
  • A safe, welcoming environment that’s perfect for exploring at your own pace. There are plenty of spaces on board to suit the mood you are in. Need some quiet space all to your own? Choose a cozy cocoon chair to curl up with a good book. In the mood for excitement? Sit with other guests in front of the FlowRider to cheer on brave riders!

Whether you're taking a break from routine, working remotely with a view, or checking off a must-see destination, Ovation of the Seas makes solo travel stress-free, empowering, and incredibly fun.
