Oceania Cruises: A New Ship & Re-Inspiration Across the Fleet

Maggie Blehert

The lovely ships of Oceania Cruises are large enough to offer a variety of amenities and activities, yet small enough to foster a genuine sense of camaraderie. Expect the same when Vista, the first of two new 1,200-guest Allura Class ships, debuts in May 2023. Its Grand Lounge will remind you of a private club and the reimagined Martinis Bar will be the must-visit spot for mingling.

Bookworms will appreciate the top-of-the-ship library — the perfect place to curl up and take in the view on sea days. No matter which stateroom or suite you book, you’ll enjoy a private veranda and a beautifully appointed bathroom with oversized rainforest shower and large vanity. Solo travelers will also feel right at home with a new category of Concierge Level Veranda Staterooms.

Oceania Cruises has long been known for its cuisine, and Vista guests will be delighted to find four new dining venues on board. Among them are Ember, offering inventive American dishes, and Aquamar Kitchen, featuring wellness-inspired fare.

Vista will also roll out an elevated and innovative bar program, which in many cases will complement the cuisine. The ship will feature the latest cocktail-crafting trends and techniques such as flavored smoke bubbles, an extensive selection of low- and no- sugar wines and zero-proof cocktails, plus Negronis aged in wooden barrels and specialty beverage carts like the Bubbly Bar and Ultimate Bloody Mary Bar. These mouthwatering drinks will be infused into menus and venues around the ship.

To say Oceania Cruises fans reacted enthusiastically when Vista’s inaugural-season cruises first went on sale in fall 2022 would be an understatement — they set an all-time single-day booking record for the cruise line! Here are just a couple of sample itineraries and some of the tantalizing destinations ahead:

12-Day Caribbean Wanderlust
Roundtrip Miami
Vista | Departing December 18, 2023
This voyage begins with two relaxing days at sea, followed by a week showcasing a different isle each day. Go snorkeling in St. Barts and Barbados, opt for a whale and dolphin safari in Dominica, consider a culinary tour in St. Lucia and swim with stingrays in Antigua.

15-Day Transatlantic Sunrise
Miami to Rome
Vista | Departing March 27, 2024

Head to the Mediterranean in style — sailing across the Atlantic to the sun-kissed shores of Spain and beyond. Port calls include:

  • Great Stirrup Cay (Oceania Cruises’ private island in the Bahamas)
  • Royal Naval Dockyard in Bermuda,
  • Horta (Azores), Portugal
  • Seville (Cadiz), Spain
  • Malaga, Spain
  • Monte Carlo, Monaco
  • Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy

Eight full days at sea balance out the itinerary making for a delightful combination of days ashore and on board. We predict you’ll need at least this much time to enjoy all Vista has to offer.

Special Benefits for Cruise Specialists Clients

Cruise Specialists offers exclusive amenities on dozens of Oceania Cruises each year. Two of the most common are pre-paid gratuities or hosted voyage benefits. Pre-paid gratuities can add up to an excellent value especially as the length of the cruise increases. A hosted voyage will include a dedicated voyage host who is on board to provide an extra layer of assistance to our clients, plus a private welcome reception and a VIP shore tour that is different from the shore excursions the cruise line provides. We’re happy to let you know about which cruise departures include these special amenities.

Re-inspiration for Oceania Riviera and Marina

Oceania Cruises also recently announced details of its most ambitious OceaniaNEXT initiative to date with the planned stem-to-stern refurbishment of the 1,210-guest ships Riviera and Marina. With the advent of Riviera’s and Marina’s re-inspiration, Oceania Cruises will, for the first time, field a fleet entirely composed of brand-new or better-than-new ships in every destination across the globe.

Every surface of every suite and stateroom will be entirely new, while in the public spaces, a refreshed color palette will surround a tasteful renewal of fabrics, furnishings and lighting fixtures. Tuscan marble, engaging works of art and designer residential furnishings will adorn the re-inspired spaces

Riviera’s ravishing debut will this December 2022, while Marina will showcase its better-than-new status in November 2023.
