World Cruise Life: What To Do On Sea Days?

Special Guest Reporter

Shuffleboard Crystal World
While Shuffleboard is one of those activities everyone associates with cruising, it's only one of the many daily activities offered onboard Crystal Serenity during the world cruise.

The 2012 Crystal Cruises World Cruise aboard Crystal Serenity is composed of five segments.  Passengers may opt to do the entire World Cruise or one or more segments.  This, our first segment, appeals to cruisers who enjoy sea days as 13 of our 20 days are spent at sea.  Several of our guests have chosen this segment for that reason and spend their days being pampered in the spa, receiving acupuncture treatments, attending lectures, playing bridge and participating in the excellent enrichment series.  Yesterday the ship’s newspaper, Reflections, listed 40 events available to guests!

Buddy and I begin our day with 8:00am yoga followed by breakfast, a 10:00am lecture, Cruise Specialists coffee hour at 11:00am, lunch, dance class, afternoon lecture, walking the deck and squeezing in other activities whenever we find time.  Buddy enjoys the golf classes while I have attended art classes.  I am a temporary art drop out as my beginner skills were surpassed when the master class began.  Last year each segment offered different art media and instructors so I plan to challenge my artistic abilities again in a few weeks with something that doesn’t require a paint brush.

Pilates aboard Crystal World
Pilates is one of the many fitness activities featured in the Crystal Serenity's state-of-the-art gym. Other classes you might find are cycling, Kinesis and Tai Chi.

There are three or four enrichment lectures daily with other classes offered in the following areas: bridge, computers, Yamaha music, Spanish, memoir writing, dance, Pilates, fitness, art, golf and chorus.  Other activities including trivia are also scheduled.

Evening entertainment is top drawer and the Crystal singers and dancers are outstanding.  There are many dining choices including a Japanese Restaurant, Silk Road, and Prego, a popular Italian Restaurant.  The charge for these two restaurants is nominal and the food and the service are excellent.

Computer Class on Crystal World
Crystal's computer lab prepped for one of their complimentary computer classes.

As you can see, sea days are full.  It is no wonder so many long time cruisers do not even get off of the ship!  Crystal is truly a luxurious 6-star cruise line with activities for everyone.
