Meet World Cruisers Ran and Scott

Justin Gibson

Think a world cruise is only for those who’ve retired?

Ran and Scott would disagree!!

RyanandScott

The two friends met during their time at Ohio State and realized each was not only excited about travel, but determined to make it part of their lives!

The Cruise Specialists team met Ran and Scott during our send off dinner in Fort Lauderdale for the Holland America Line 2015 Grand World Voyage. We’re excited to share more of their thoughts and adventures once the trip is complete!

Why a world cruise?
We have traveled extensively, both by cruise ship and airline/hotel.  When traveling to multiple destinations when not cruising, we have found that much time is lost – changing hotels, waiting in airports, etc.

By doing a world cruise, we are able to convert the hassle of travel to an enjoyable experience.

What other way can you travel the world and only unpack once?  Moreover, we must say, it is nice to return to the comforts of the ship after a sometimes chaotic day in port.

It’s a small community onboard a world cruise, having familiar faces while traveling the world is always nice.

What’s with the bikes?
We are biking in every port that it is safe and logistically possible.

We are both very active, and having the ability to cover substantial ground while ashore, has been a definite plus.  Our bikes are easy to transport ashore even in the ports where tendering is required.

Favorite World Cruise moment?
We climbed the Sydney Harbor Bridge on a perfect, clear night in Sydney.  The views and experience were second to none.

Further,  the ms Amsterdam’s docking location directly across from the Opera House in Sydney was remarkable.  Having breakfast onboard with views of the Opera House in one direction and the Sydney Harbor Bridge in the other direction can’t be beat.
