Fresh off a complete renovation as part of Windstar Cruises’ $250 Million Star Plus Initiative, Cruise Specialists was on board Star Breeze for one of her first voyages back at sea in July 2021. All guests and crew were fully vaccinated.
Annie Scrivanich, Senior Vice President of Cruise Specialists, cruised roundtrip St. Maarten to inspect this delightful yacht, which includes two new dining venues, the new World Spa by Windstar and 50 new suites—featuring new suite categories as well as two brand-new, larger Owner’s Suites.
The yacht now has a larger pool and hot tub on an elevated top deck, offering outstanding views. An expanded outdoor deck also provides more space for relaxing in the fresh air. In all, the Star Plus initiative resulted in what seems like a brand new small ship or yacht.
“Star Breeze is exquisite,” said Annie. “The service is impeccable, staff is friendly and attentive, and suites are consistent throughout.” Annie also gave the cuisine high marks, with innovative menus including healthy items that burst with flavor and nuance. “Specialty restaurants add an enjoyable element for a ship this size, including the al fresco dining venues,” said Annie.
All three of Windstar’s all-suite yachts—Star Breeze, Star Legend and Star Pride, are being transformed as part of the Star Plus Initiative. Star Legend completed its reimagined debut in September 2021. The transformations were unique in that the yachts were actually cut in half and lengthened. Windstar notes that although guest capacity on each yacht is increasing from 212 to 312, the size of these motorized yachts still fit within Windstar’s credo to visit smaller, scenic ports for diverse itineraries mixing with marquee ports.
Recommended Itineraries
If you are interested in visiting boutique ports with Windstar, we recommend the 7-Night Yachtsman’s Caribbean. Explore destinations such as the eight-square-mile Jost Van Dyke, where you can snorkel among swaying sponges and angelfish; or Virgin Gorda, known for its natural bathing pools of crystalline waters.
We also recommend the yachts of Windstar Cruises for a summer adventure to Alaska. Imagine cruising past towering glaciers or taking an expedition-style excursion to photograph the abundant wildlife. We like the 15-Day Alaskan Explorations & Denali Cruise Tour, which includes a 4-day land tour featuring two nights in Denali National Park. Your hotel stays, transfers to and from Denali—including deluxe domed train ride—and exciting guided tours are included.
