Meet AmaMagna, the New AmaWaterways Ship

Carolina Pickens

The newest addition to the AmaWaterways fleet, the AmaMagna, debuted in 2019. The goal was to redefine river cruising, with the new ship’s width spanning twice that of average-sized European river cruise ships. The result is a well-planned design that provides more personal space due to the increase in the passengers-to-space ratio. With a 196-passenger capacity, the ship proves to be an expansive personal palace.

“I’ve had this unique ship on my mind for many years and am confident that now is the time to introduce my vision,” said Rudi Schreiner, president and co-owner of AmaWaterways in a press release.

Ship Launchamamagna

The AmaMagna’s maiden voyage of 2019 sailed down the majestic Danube River, launching from the Pearl of the Danube, the glimmering city of Budapest. The ship followed the Danube west as the river cuts a path past Hungary, Slovakia, Austria and Germany. The Melodies of the Danube itinerary featured stops in Bratislava, Linz and Vienna and included memorable walking and biking tours to venture across these timeless cities. Passengers enjoyed learning about priceless works of art and architecture, as well as refining their palates during the included wine-tasting events.

Dining Venues

Like all AmaWaterways ships, the AmaMagna provides guests with delectable, locally inspired cuisine in multiple restaurants. Guests can look forward to dining in the Main Restaurant and The Chef’s Table—staples of every AmaWaterways ship—in addition to some new and exclusive eateries. Dive into culinary works of art at the Al Fresco Restaurant, which features exquisitely fresh fare and retractable windows. Looking for a comfortable homestyle atmosphere? Jimmy’s is a new restaurant and bar dedicated to the late co-owner of AmaWaterways, Jimmy Murphy.

As with all AmaWaterways cuisine, it’s included within the price of the booking. Guests truly can dine to their heart’s content throughout this river voyage.
