The luxurious Crystal Symphony will receive a posh face-lift in June of 2012 during a major $15 million dry dock. Crystal Cruises is redesigning the ship’s Avenue Saloon, Palm Court lounge, Galaxy showroom, Hollywood Theatre, Bridge Lounge, and Fantasia and Waves “junior cruisers” areas. According to Crystal Cruises President Gregg Michel, after this project they will have redesigned every room aboard the Crystal Symphony – with great attention to rich, chic details. The cruise line has invested more than $50 million in its vessels, generating praise – and even industry awards – for their great style.
The Avenue Saloon & Palm Court
The Avenue Saloon will undergo a room reconfiguration with more seating, including antique-style, brass-tack couches and large, red wall sofa. Palm Court (the ship’s signature lounge for high tea, dancing, cocktail parties and casual drinks) will be transformed with a new entrance, expanded bar and dance areas with added seating, and a larger, spiral-design dance floor with overhead ceiling feature.
Galaxy Lounge, Hollywood Theatre & Bridge Lounge
Crystal is also planning a grand redesign of its main theatre, Galaxy Lounge. The elegant redo features namesake-reflective motifs, such as starburst lighting and carpeting and lit crystal-speckled wall panels that hint of the night sky. Other improvements include formal purple drapes, fabric wallcovering, and glass doors, along with new mohair chairs and sofas, cocktail tables, and ambient lighting.
The ship’s Hollywood Theatre will soon feature plush leather armchairs with individual pull-out tables and other upgrades in addition to its new boosted surround sound audio processing and enhanced presentation control system. The Bridge Lounge will sport new furniture, including game tables and chairs, lighting, window treatments and more as well as a new video and sound system.
Fantasia & Waves
Families will appreciate the new layout for both Fantasia kids play area and Waves teen video arcade which will create separate areas for crafts, relaxation, screenings (two TVs), teens, and computer usage. The design will incorporate fun, asymmetrical furniture, FatboyTM bean bags, and vibrant colors like crimson, sapphire, and various shades of green.
