Video: Silversea Shore Excursion From Marseille, Popes’ Palace In Avignon, France

An hour and a half from the port city of Marseille is the town of Avignon, one of Europe’s most beautiful and well-preserved medieval cities.

Avignon served as the official residence of seven popes from 1309 to 1377. At the center of Avignon is the Popes’ Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that I visited on Silversea Cruises’ Silver Shore Collection of tours.

Summing Up Silversea Cruises Far East Cruise On Silver Whisper

Malaysian dance ceremony on a Far East Cruise

This week on The Cruise Report, I looked back at a cruise I did in February of 2007: the Far East on Silver Whisper.

Silversea Cruises’ Far East Cruise and the vessel that carried us, Silver Whisper, exceeded my expectations.

Of the destinations, Ho Chi Minh City certainly was the highlight for many passengers, although for others the pre-cruise night in Bangkok (at The Peninsula) and the post-cruise night in Singapore (at the Ritz-Carlton) ranked high.

Vintage Video: Cruising To Kuching, The Cat City

This week on The Cruise Report, I’ll be looking back at a cruise I did in February of 2007: the Far East on Silver Whisper. Each day will feature new videos. Stay tuned.

Known as “The Cat City,” Kuching, Malaysia, is a sprawling, yet charming, British Colonial/Chinese/Malay town. The city has no more cats than other cities of its size, but the name translates to “City of the Cat,” and indeed, there is a cat museum and cat statues.
