New Shore Excursion: Apples In Ulvik, Norway
I am currently on a familiarization trip with cruise line shore excursion planners, coordinators and managers. The trip is organized and sponsored by Cruise Norway and its partners.
Last night, we traveled for about an hour by boat from Eidjord to Ulvik. As you can see from the photos, Norway’s weather in early September is spectacular.

Eyeing Eidjord’s Shore Excursions
This week, I am traveling with shore excursion managers and planners on a familiarization trip sponsored by Cruise Norway and partners.
Fly Like An Eagle
Yesterday, we traveled by helicopter from Bergen to Eidfjord, an exhilarating 30-minute trip. I can certainly recommend that anyone cruising Norway pony up for at least one helicopter excursion.

Assessing Stavanger’s Top Shore Excursions — In A Single Day

At Stavanger's Iron Age Farm, costumed actors/actresses portray what life was like here 1500 years ago.
On Monday, I visited Stavanger, Norway with a group of shore excursion managers/planners from various cruise lines.
Check out what we experienced during a day that our guide described as showing us “10 tours in one day.” Well, we didn’t quite experience 10, but we did get a thorough overview of how cruise passengers might best spend their time in this beautiful city in the south of Norway.

Running Through Reykjavik, Assessing Iceland’s Cruise Tours

Among the many shore activities for cruise passengers, Reykjavik offers opportunities to ride sturdy and beautiful Icelandic Horses.
On the evening that I arrived in Reykjavik, the weather had turned. What had been a beautiful summer for days running had suddenly been interrupted by clouds and rain. Nonetheless, the weather would not stop us from running through Reykjavik to see what the city had to offer cruise passengers on calls to Iceland’s capital city.

Faroe Islands, Far Away, Yet Once Visited, Unforgettable
Decades ago, I was leafing through the pages of National Geographic magazine when I came upon a photograph of a grass-roofed house in the Faroe Islands. The image of that fairy-tale-like home engaged my imagination, and thus began my desire to visit the exotic cluster of islands that had etched an indelible image in my mind.

Gone For A Hike: Pam Conover, Sailing On Sojourn, ‘In Motion’ In Torshavn
Pam Conover is sailing on Seabourn Sojourn’s maiden voyage, which called on Torshavn today. As president & CEO of Seabourn Cruise Line, Pam sent us the following update about her day in Torshavn.
We docked today in Torshavn, Faroe Islands. Beautiful sunny skies. I participated in one of our new In Motion (more active) shore excursions, which was a two-hour hike above the fjords. Great views of the sill rock formations. Returned back to the ship past traditional houses with grass roofs.
