Seldom Cruised Caribbean Islands You Really Should See

A sunset on a seldom visitedCaribbean island

An unforgettable sunset on seldom visited Bequia

By WALLACE IMMEN for The Avid Cruiser

All right, so you’re an experienced Caribbean cruiser.

You’ve docked in places like Phillpsburg and Bridgetown so many times you qualify for frequent visitor status. You’ve slathered yourself in sun lotion on more palm-lined beaches than Columbus ever claimed. But I bet there are still big gaps in your Caribbean life list; places that hardly ever show up in cruise itineraries. Maybe it’s time to look into some islands off the well-churned cruise routes that are places that can only be visited by smaller ships. The experience is sure to be one that won’t have our friends saying “been there, done that.”

Norway’s Midnight Sun Aboard Regent Seven Seas

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

Norway was the dream, Regent made the dream come true. For over fifteen years I have wanted to return to Norway. Having been completely enchanted on prior visits by the midnight sun and the stunning beauty of Norway’s mountains, valleys, lakes, fjords waterfalls and snow-capped mountains, I always hoped that I would return one day.

As sometimes happens, if we keep wishing and begin taking a few steps, our visions become reality.

Seven Seas Voyager Caribbean Cruise Review

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011

In December 2010, my husband Bill and I were lucky enough to travel to the Caribbean

Marriott Beach Place Towers

Marriott Beach Place Towers

aboard the luxurious, six-star Seven Seas Voyager. Regent Seven Cruises is a spectacular, upscale cruise line with many wonderful included amenities.

Prior to our cruise we had an overnight stay at the Marriott Beach Place Towers in Fort Lauderdale. This beautiful hotel offered wonderful views of the water and beach. We had a nice lanai to sit and have our morning coffee and since we were so close, We walked on the beach and had breakfast at an outdoor restaurant.

Regent Seven Seas Voyager Ship Review

Seven Seas Voyager

Seven Seas Voyager

This past June, I had the pleasure of travelling aboard Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ all-suite, all-balcony luxurious Seven Seas Voyager. I have to say, the worst part about Regent is that you eventually have to get off the ship and go home.

Monday, April 26th, 2010

This letter was sent to Cruise Specialists agent Shannon Nelson from her client Mr. Rob McGregor

Hi Shannon,

I am writing this in order that you may be able to send it on to Marc Conroy at Regent and anyone else you feel should receive it. As you are aware we had a very enjoyable cruise this past November/December aboard the Mariner from Sydney to Los Angeles.

Regent Voyager World Cruise Update

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Because of the social and political unrest in Thailand, there was some concern about traveling into Bangkok. Regent offered all of their passengers on the World Cruise one night in Bangkok complete with deluxe hotel, transfers, meals and a cocktail cruise on the Chao Phraya River at sunset. The weekend prior to our arrival there were 100,000 protesters on the streets of Bangkok. Several days before our scheduled stay, the protesters began collecting their own blood which would be used in upcoming marches. The leaders of the Red Shirts declared class warfare and vowed to shut the city down. So things didn’t look too promising! We also had private car arrangements pending for some of our guests. Our tour operator and the ship’s staff kept us apprised of the situation and the decision was made to go ahead with the excursion to Bangkok.
