My wife Diana and I recently travelled through Europe on an Avalon Waterways river cruise along the Danube River and the Black Sea. We had a most enjoyable time sailing from Vienna to Bucharest.
Prior to the cruise we stayed in a hotel in Vienna. Our initial transfer from our pre-cruise hotel to the ship was a little chaotic, but was amusing for us to watch at least. Between over enthusiastic guests, luggage and guides there was a little mass confusion. Eventually someone figured it all out and we were on our way. We arrived at Avalon Waterways Artistry in about 45 minutes and went directly on board.
Cruise Specialists Cares shore tour program is an opportunity to give back to those in need during your next cruise voyage. In this video Cruise Specialists guests aboard Holland America World cruise visited the SOS Children’s Village from the port of Durban, South Africa. Donations included everything from toys to the shirts off our client’s backs. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed meeting these smiling wonderful children. Cruise Specialists Cares is part of Cruise Specialists exclusive Shore Tour Program, for more information visit our Custom Shore Excursions page.
Last week I had the pleasure of travelling with fellow travel advisors aboard Rocky Mountaineer, a fabulous train journey. If I had to sum up this very well-coordinated seamless travel product into a few words I would say it is a “deluxe cruise on rail”.
Buddy and I were very lucky to recently get to take part in an exclusive Cruise Specialists Bora Bora shore tour. Cruise Specialists designed a series of unique and exclusive tours for our January 2010 Rotterdam 63-day Polynesian Paradise & Incan Empires cruise.
During our recent trip aboard Holland America Line’s fabulous Polynesian Paradise & Incan Empires 63–day cruise we spent a fabulous day in Costa Rica. Encouraged by our experienced and enthusiastic group member, Sharron Hiebert, four other adventuresome Cruise Specialists

Recently I was lucky enough to travel aboard Holland America Line’s ms Eurodam, which made its debut in summer 2008, to the sun-filled Caribbean. I thought I would take a moment and let you know all the fabulous things activities I did while in the Caribbean.
My friend, Wendy, and I recently sailed as the Virtuoso group hosts onboard the Wind Surf from Venice to Venice. Hotel Manager Geert de Meyer personally greeted guests as we checked in and he requested a steward to take our large bags to the ship. Another steward escorted us to our stateroom and explained where things were, that we could check out DVDs at Reception, and even borrow an iPod pre-loaded with music for the stereo system.
Recently my husband and I visited many ports of Alaska’s fascinating Inside Passage from our Holland America Line Alaska Cruise. We were amazed by the sheer rugged beauty of this untamed wilderness that surrounds these small port towns, some only accessible by sea plane or boat.
We have completed our exclusive Cruise Specialists Shore Excursion programs for these two exciting voyages. The ms Prinsendam 2010 Grand South America Shore Excursion materials were recently mailed and later this week we plan to mail the ms Amsterdam 2010 Grand World Voyage tour materials.
We have some incredible tours planned including a safari to Thornybush Private Luxury Game Reserve, a fabulous trip to Machu Picchu (on the World Cruise) and also a special cruise on Li River with a visit to Terracotta Warriors.
