We know, 2017 just got underway and 2019 seems far, far away – but, it’s a great time to take a look at Crystal Cruises’ 2019 world cruise on the Crystal Serenity, set to depart Los Angeles on January 14, 2019.
Reserving your stateroom this far in advance can deliver significant discounts and perks, whether you’re a first-time Crystal passenger or a returning guest. In addition, you can make payments on your fare over the next two years, which also gives you an opportunity to earn additional savings for early payment.
Why We Love Crystal
A world cruise (or any cruise) on a Crystal Cruises ship is a special occasion. The cruise line’s small ships are comfortably luxurious, while offering many of the amenities of a larger ship. For example, the 1,080-passenger Crystal Serenity has an onboard sushi bar, a well-stocked wine cellar, a casino, two gourmet restaurants in addition to the main dining room, and a cyber café.
Crystal’s aesthetics are beautiful and the furnishings are plush. The cruise line is known for its high-quality learning programs and inventive shore excursions. Fares include gratuities and beverages, making life on board that much more convenient.
But, what makes people decide to cruise only on Crystal is the always attentive, friendly and excellent service: that’s especially important on an 84-day world cruise.
Crystal Cruises’ 2019 world cruise begins and ends in glamorous locations, embarking westward from Los Angeles on January 14 and ending in Monte Carlo on April 8. The itinerary includes lots of wonderful ports, with an emphasis on Australia and Africa.
After cruising in the Pacific Ocean and calling on Hawaii, Samoa, Fiji and New Zealand, the Serenity will arrive in Sydney, Australia, on Feb. 8. Passengers will have two days and nights to explore the attractions of the city – from the beaches, harbor and Opera House to the forests and sandstone cliffs of Blue Mountains National Park. In the evenings, you might visit one of the city’s many excellent restaurants, relax in a casual pub, or take in a cultural performance.
After Sydney, you’ll cruise down Australia’s eastern coast and across the Bass Strait to Tasmania and its capital city, Hobart. Then, it’s on to a first-time port call for Crystal at Kangaroo Island, home to nature preserves that shelter kangaroos and koala, wallabies, penguins and other incredible wildlife.
Busselton, another first-time port call in Australia, offers white sand beaches, the longest wooden pier you’ve ever seen, an introduction to the Margaret River wine region and more.
Upon leaving Australia, the Serenity will cruise the Indian Ocean. After calling on Mauritius, Reunion Island and Madagascar, you’ll spend a day in Maputo, Mozambique, on the African mainland. Then, you’ll begin an intensive exploration of South Africa, staring with Richards Bay, where a game reserve protects lagoon-dwelling animals like hippos and crocodiles; Durban, with its golden beaches; and Port Elizabeth, a great destination for water sports enthusiasts.
The Serenity will spend two nights in Cape Town, providing time to explore everything from the Victorian and Cape Dutch architecture to the beautiful views from Table Mountain.
Then, it’s on to Namibia, with a stop in Luderitz, a former German colony; and Walvis Bay, where the meeting of ocean and desert creates a stunningly beautiful landscape.
The Serenity will sail on to the remote island of St. Helena, a British territory where Napoleon Bonaparte was once imprisoned, then to a first-time call on Ascension Island. After a stop in the French-influenced city of Dakar, Senegal, the Serenity will also visit the Cape Verde Islands, where there’s a fascinating mix of Creole, Portuguese and African cultures.
There will also be memorable port calls in Spain – Santa Cruz de la Palma, Malaga and Barcelona – before the ship arrives in Monte Carlo.
Segments Available, Too
Of course, you’ll want to sail this entire world cruise itinerary – but, if you can’t do all 84 days, you can sail a segment of the cruise.
